Created by Hand and Saturday Surprise Challenges

This is a digital hybrid card. This week's Saturday Surprise theme is mother nature. The current Created by Hand challenge is to use eggs. I used digital elements by Laura Deacetis and Traci Sims, and a stamp from Quietfire Design. I found the robin's eggs in the nest through a web search.

Dans la maison and Saturday's Workout Challenges

Over at Saturday's Workout, Sandy wants us to create a shrine. Over at Dans ma Maison, the challenge is to use the theme of "un petit roi" (a little prince), so here's my digital house/shrine, with a photo of my four year old grandson Avery...doesn't he have the CUTEST little smile!? Digital elements were designed by: Laura, Tracey and Laurie Ann, who all design over at Shabby Pickle. I found the crown at a free image site, just can't remember where, and added some digital crystals. I made the text "gold plated" in Photoshop. If you click on the image, you can see more detail.

June, over at the Art Freebie challenge blog, gave us this fabulous picture of the inimitable Ms Ginger Rogers as a challenge. Whenever I think of her, this quote comes to mind: "Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did, except SHE did it backwards and in high heels!" Strong, talented women, gotta LOVE 'em!

I used digital elements I purchased over at Shabby Pickle, the majority are from Laura Deacetis' Shabby Sugar kit and her Damask Don't Ask paper kit; those neat translucent balloons are from Faith True, also designing at Shabby Pickle.

This week's CBH challenge is to use flowers. Take a few minutes and look at all the gorgeous pieces posted for this challenge! My card is a digital hybrid, with only the sentiment (from Quietfire Design) stamped. This wickedly fabulous damask grunge paper is from a set by Laura Deacetis (called "Damask Don't Tell) over at Shabby Pickle. The ribbon and the bracket set are both by Laura as well. The flower is an old freebie from Laura S, posted at Digital Elements, and the flourish "stamp" is from a kit by Manuela Zimmerman called "Celebrate Spring."

Art Creations Friday!

Wil painted a beautiful background for us to use in this week's Art Creations challenge. Since I'm still away from home visiting family, and away from all my stamping supplies, I'm challenging myself even further by trying my hand at digital play. "Have laptop will travel!" (lol) I wasn't able to join in the Art Creations challenge a couple of weeks ago, but i just loved this old Granny they gave us, so I used her this week too.

Ismaki Challenge

Another interesting challenge over at Ismaki this week! I'm still away from home, visiting with my grandkidlets, so I'm doing digital for a while. The digital elements were designed by Irene Alexeeva, and the image is from Cora.

Art Creations

I'm away from home for a month, visiting my BUSY grandboys, and away from all my paper and stamping supplies, so I've decided to try some of my favourite challenges digitally.

The new Art Creations challenge is to use this beautiful image. I matched it digitally with a background previously created by Will and posted at Art Creations last month.The other digital elements were designed by Irene Alexeeva. The font is Waterbrush by Rob Leutschke. She's so wistful in this image. I've decided it's because she and her love, who live in Ireland, have to part. If you listen to this beautiful song by our own Nova Scotia's Rankin Family, called "Fare Thee Well Love," you'll hear why...just click on the pink title and turn on your volume. For those unfamiliar with their music, this song was recorded by a group of five siblings (three sisters and two brothers) in 1992: John, Jimmy, Raylene, Cookie, and Heather. They live in Cape Breton Nova Scotia, sing and record Celtic music together, in honour of their heritage. Several years ago, John was killed in a winter traffic accident in the highlands of Cape Breton, while he was driving his son to a hockey game. The other four siblings have since reunited musically. Fare Thee Well Love is one of their most beloved songs. If you take the time to listen to it, you'll hear why.

New challenge

Flourishes has a pre-release challenge, to use a sentiment as a focus of your card. I don't have my newly ordered Flourishes stamps yet (because I only recently discovered their fabulous stamps!), but here's one for the challenge, using two Impression Obsession stamps and some delicious florentine patterned paper that I hoard jealously . The new stamps will be released this weekend, be sure to stop by there to see what's happening. I sure will!

Challenges again!

LOTS of challenges today!

The Wednesday Stamper challenge is to create a "skinny," which is a piece measuring 3" by 5." So I stamped, embossed and coloured this image, which is a brand new one from Impression Obsession, onto heavy weight vellum. This stamp, along with dozens of other new releases, will be available for sale at the end of this month on the Impression Obsession website.

then I incorporated the skinny into this card, adding the Impression Obsession sentiment stamp, and glittering some of the leaves.

The card also fits for the Impression Obsession designers' challenge, which is to use green. Here's another card I created for the IO challenge, using an image from the stamps recently released at CHA. This one is called the Clover Tree, and you can find it right here. I coloured this image with Prismacolour Premier Art Markers, and glittered up a storm!

I computer generated the sentiment, and I coloured the white Prima flowers with green Pan Pastels from Quietfire Design. I used my new SU border punch at the bottom edge.

This week's Cuttlebug challenge is to use watercolouring, and the Dutch Dare challenge is to create something tropical. Here's my offering, with an Impression Obsession stamp.

Over at Cute Card Thursday, the challenge is to create something with food or drink. This card (which I haven't posted before now) was done for my daughter for Valentine's Day, also with Impression Obsession stamps.

Some people seem to be experiencing problems seeing some of the images in this post. I've deleted and reposted, so I'd love to know if you can see everything.

FUN challenges!

This card was created to meet several challenges. Over at Created by Hand, the challenge is to use the word "believe." The Timeless Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes is to use our Spellbinders Nestabilities. Julie and Crissi, the Arty Girlz, have challenged us to use blue and yellow together. Mixed Media Monday wants us to incorporate "time" into our work. The sentiment stamp comes from Quietfire Design. I also masked, stamped and gold embossed the word "believe" for the bottom right corner of my focal image. The winged woman, flourishes, and white embossed butterfly stamp are all from Crafty Individuals. I added colour with watercolours and Prismacolour Premier alcohol markers, then I glittered the wings of the focal image. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by my blog today!

Ismaki Challenge March 2nd.

Kianel provided a delightful sketch at Ismaki for us to follow this week. I followed the option too, which is to use red and brown. The centre quad floral stamp is from Crafty Individuals, the sentiment and the music on the Prima flowers are stamps from Quietfire Design, and I used a linen background stamp from SU for the tags. I used just a hint of colour, with Pan Pastels, on the Crafty Individuals flowers. Thanks so much for stopping to visit today.
