Stitching up a challenge!

This week's Saturday's Workout theme is stitching. I LOVE to combine hand
stitching and beading with stamping,
so here are three cards I
finished this week.

The stamp on this one is
from Impression Obsession.

This stamp is from Quietfire Design.

Suzanne's beautiful hand calligraphy goes so well with pretty stitching!

This stamp is from Quietfire as well.

Tag You're It!

So I found this fun new challenge site...Tag You're It, and instead of vacuuming, taking my dog for her long walk in the park, and weeding my garden, I'm playing in my happy room with this tag challenge. Uh-oh. FUN though! Here's my first entry for this challenge. This week's tag theme is to create round tags. I love this Tin Can Mail baby face stamp, and I think she looks so cute on the Rubber Stampede daisy background.

Make a Moo or Two

This week's challenge is to use only brown-beige-crème
on our creations. These wee little things are such fun to make.
Here's mine for this week. Go have a look, join the
challenge at
"Make a Moo or Two!"

Wednesday Stamper Challenge

This week's Wednesday Stamper challenge is to alter playing cards. Here's my offering. I added the "K" and the diamonds digitally, printed out the image, glued to a card, then stamped and pop-dotted the hats (Just Johanna).
Thanks for this fun, quirky challenge!

Wings...sunglasses suggested for viewing (lol)

This week's Arty Girlz challenge is "Wings." I used a Tim Holtz stamp for the main little girl image,
stamped on glossy with Ancient Page Coal Black ink, then masked it, brayered over it
with a Kaleidacolour inkpad, then stamped Penny Black lace flowers and
Lazar Studio Werx leaves stamp with StazOn.

Thanks for the challenge Crissi and Julie, thanks for the inspiration Kim,
and thank YOU for visiting today.

Challenges

The Created by Hand challenge this week is to create tags. The current Daring Cardmakers
challenge is to use beads. So here's my tag incorporating both challenges.
All stamps from Quietfire Design, image from Crafty Individuals.

Thanks so much for visiting today.

Paisley

I'm so lucky to be able to get together with a group of very talented local women, to share ideas and to stamp. We challenge one another, and this session's challenge was to create a card originally done by one of the
group’s stampers. So I was inspired by this paisley card from Julie and created something of my own.
I used Impression Obsession stamps, designed by Leigh Hannan. I gold-embossed the
paisley six times, then painted with Twinkling H2O’s. It was a GREAT design.

So here's my card

And here's Julie's card, Thanks so much for the inspiration Julie! Be sure to visit
her blog to see some lovely work.

Thanks for visiting today!

Seashells

This week's Ismaki challenge sketch is just below my card. I used a Tin Can Mail image stamp
(a gift from my friend Kim) and an Art Gone Wild sentiment stamp, with Creative Imaginations
gold-embossed paper. I dyed the tag with walnut crystals, and pop-dotted a couple of
gold-embossed seashells. I'm glad you visited today!

Saturday's Workout

The theme for this week's Saturday's Workout is to use the resist technique. Here's mine, done on mulberry paper. The hydrangea stamp is All Night Media. The sentiment stamp is Quietfire Design. I stamped
the flower on white mulberry paper with Top Boss embossing ink, then wet the paper,
then dribbled Ecoline watercolour inks randomly over the image.

4 by 4 Friday...on Saturday!

The 4 by 4 Friday theme this week is...make something in your favourite colours. Well, my favourite colours change almost daily I think, depending on my mood. So here's my 4 by 4 offering for today, based on colours I've been playing with all week. The flourish stamp is Stampendous, the sentiment is from Quietfire Design.

I'm adding a couple of other cards to this post too, along the same colour scheme,
although they're not 4 by 4's. Stamps on those are Impression Obsession. Thanks for visiting.

Today is Mitra's birthday! You'd know her as the creative genius behind Impression Obsession rubber stamps.
I know her as a talented stamper, my design team boss, and an enterpreneur extraordinaire. In honour of her birthday, Impression Obsession design team decided to do a birthday challenge this month.

Art

My mother loved purple

Today's Created by Hand challenge is to stamp on fabric. For this piece, I used an old linen hankie of my mother's (I'm lucky to have inherited a nice little stack of these),and stamps from Quietfire Design. The flourishes are stamped with Clearsnap Metallic Extra Lilac ink, and the sentiment is stamped with Brilliance Coffee Bean ink. The piece is 6 1/2" by 6 1/2," and has a little "hanger" on the reverse.

Although I really enjoy creating things like this, I have no more space on my happy room walls, so if you're interested, please leave me a comment telling me about the person with whom you share a closely woven relationship. On Sunday, I'll do a random draw, and the person whose comment is drawn can then pay it forward to that person in their relationship. I'll mail it for you, and will also include a card for the recipient, in which your comment will be incorporated. Finally, I'll also send YOU this African Proverb stamp "I am the connections that I weave." This was done from the beautiful hand calligraphy of the very talented Suzanne Cannon of Quietfire Design, and is one of my favourites. Please check back on Sunday May 18th. for the winner, then you'll have the day to contact me with a postal address for delivery.
Thank you for visiting, and enjoy your day!

Late again...

The Arty Girlz challenge this week is to use 3-d. I did the heart by ironing velvet paper
over the stamp (All Night Media), then gold-embossed the sentiment (Impression Obsession)
I pop-dotted the sentiment and the heart, mounted those on a Cuttlebugged
Swiss dots embossed velvet piece, then finished with a
Martha Stewart punched strip. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Playing with Watercolour Inks!

What a beautiful day here in Nova Scotia. The sun is shining, the birds are singing,
and I've been able to play in my Happy Room all day long.

Mmmm-mmmm, life is GOOD.

Last night I created stacks of marbled papers using Ecoline Watercolour Inks from Quietfire Design,
using the shaving cream technique. I really love the subtle "movement" these inks create
when paired with a stamped image! Here are several cards I created today with
some of the backgrounds. All the sentiment stamps are done from Suzanne Cannon's
fine hand calligraphy, and are also available at her fun shop,
Quietfire, in British Columbia, Canada.

These cards are also for the Created by Hand challenge for May 6th., which is
to use charms on your cards. I used Swarovski crystals and pearls,
hope they count as charms!

The image stamps used on these two cards are from Lazar Studio Werx, which is
coincidentally also located in British Columbia, Canada. (Those west-coasters are an artsy lot!)

The fairy card uses a stamp from All Night Media, and the Iron Gate stamp is from Lazar Studio Werx.

I am SO enjoying these inks! They come in the most beautiful colours, and seem to last forever!

Once again, thanks so much for visiting today. I hope you have time to leave a comment
to say you were here! :)

Ismaki Challenge

The sketch for this week's Ismaki challenge can be found on their site here. This is my card. The white and blue cardstocks were stamped with a Top Boss Tinted Embossing Pad and and white-embossed with the flourish stamp set from Quietfire Design. The little gold swirl heart (also from Quietfire) was embossed with Top Boss gold EP. The colour on the heart was created with Talens Ecoline Watercolour Inks (#'s 390 & 580), also available at Quietfire. The little heart is actually also a card, which opens to reveal a message
for the recipient. The "Thinking of You" is a rub-on sentiment from Pebbles Inc.

If you like the effect of these Ecoline Watercolour Inks, I've created several other cards today
as well, which I've also posted here on my blog. Hope you can take a minute to see those too.
Thanks for stopping by again today!
