Wedding Card

I haven't done an Ismaki challenge for a couple of weeks. My summertime obsession (gardening) is happily taking up a lot of my time, so card making is taking a back seat for a while. However, I needed a wedding card, so I decided to play this week. Wonderful challenge, as usual ladies! If you're visiting, and haven't tried
an Ismaki challenge yet, please go visit their blog, you'll really enjoy it! This card uses a
Penny Black stamp with misted watercolours and a Hero Arts sentiment stamp.
Thanks so much for your visit today!

Tomorrow we have a special Impression Obsession design team challenge,
so I hope you can come back to visit, to see cards from all the IO designers!

Oooohhh, I LOVE Impression Obsession!

I am so LUCKY to be on Mitra's Impression Obsession design team. Our current DT challenge is to create projects with summery stamps. I had a delightful time with this challenge.

This simple card uses the wonderful Shell Cube stamp with a Cuttlebug background.
The "Hi" stamped on the ribbon is from a set of clear stamps called "Anytime Sentiments."

This card uses the Ocean Crab stamp. I stamped it on acetate, gold-embossed and coloured with Twinkling H2O's. I layered this one on a Cuttlebug background too. The "bubbles" go so well with a sea theme, and
I love all those gorgeous crabby swirls!

This one uses the Gumball stamp, which I think is SO CUTE. I'll be sending this along to a little grandson who lives in Quebec, and who'll be travelling on the train with Grammie (that's me, lol) to spend some lovely lazy summer time beside the ocean in Nova Scotia. I coloured this one with Twinkling H2O's as well. The "Hi" is from the versatile "Anytime Sentiments" set.

This last card shows a photo of one of the beaches my grandsons and I visit here in Nova Scotia, called "White Point Beach." I used one of my favourite sentiment stamps on the photo. Have a look at the pages and pages of FABULOUS nautical and sea themed stamps Impression Obsession carries. They all need me!

Be sure to look at the fabulous work done by other design team members too,
they'll all be posting sometime Friday.

Arty Girlz Challenge

This week's Arty Girlz challenge was to use a "hint of pink." I created this card today,
for a special friend. The sentiment stamp is from Quietfire Design. I used shrink plastic with an
All Night Media stamp and red StazOn ink to create the heart on the ribbon.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

Created by Hand Challenge

This week's Created by Hand challenge is to use patterned and/or "fancy" papers in creating. This fabulous florentine paper I used on the side of my card is one of my very favourites, and I hoard every precious little piece! I thought it was a nice fit for the Turkish castle. Okay, it's NOT Turkish, it's in India, and it's the Taj Mahal, how could I NOT know that? How embarrassing! Thanks for the education Elaine. The plainer, distressed paper is Basic Grey, and the gold is metallic, from a Local Stamp Store. The paper and the sentiment stamp are available from Quietfire Design .

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today.

I've been tagged!

Soooo...what would be the title to your own memoir, if you were to write one? My talented card making friend from Germany, Ilka, has tagged me to disclose mine. Well, I'm afraid that my life is so boring these days that it would not make terribly entertaining reading. However, in the spirit of play, I'll join in.

HERS is "When in doubt, take a bath!" Hey, I LIKE that one!

Mine would be Carpe Diem...Latin for Seize the Day. According to Wikipedia, the most common interpretation of the phrase is as an existential cautionary term with emphasis on making the most of current opportunities because life is short and time is fleeting.

Carpe Diem was the motto of my high school (all those many, many years ago, lol), and it has always been the way I live my life...live, love, play, laugh, just do it now, don't wait!

Soooo, I have the opportunity to tag some other blogging friends, so here goes ladies: my Ottawa friend Jennifer, who blogs at Thimbles, Bobbins, Paper and Ink, my UK friend Penny, who designs for Impression Obsession, and who blogs at Penelope's Pitstop, Dymphie from the Netherlands, who blogs here , Heather from Ontario, whose Creative Solace blog is here, and Jacqueline from France at her Craft Basket.

Okay ladies, your turn! Let us know the title for YOUR memoirs, and why! Don't forget to link back here...I'll be checking! (lol)

Deborah.

Journey

This week's Created by Hand challenge is to use Versamark, and this week's Arty Girlz challenge is to use faces. I used an old favourite face stamp of Einstein from Clearsnap, stamped with Ancient Page Coal Black Archival Dye ink on white glossy cardstock. The sentiment and flourish stamps (both from Quietfire Design) were stamped with Versamark and heat-embossed with Top Boss Gold and Black embossing powders.

Friendship

This week's Ismaki Challenge sketch is just below my card, and we've also been challenged to use
just three colours. The little baby face stamp is from Tin Can Mail, the daisy stamp is from
Rubber Stampede, and the friendship sentiment is from Stampin' Up. I used Colorbox
chalk ink and Ancient Page Coal Black Archival Dye ink. Thanks for visiting today!

Challenges

This week's Saturday's Workout technique challenge is to use paint and the crumpled foil/plastic wrap technique. This week's Arty Girlz challenge was to use paint. I combined both challenges. I painted a small piece of glossy cardstock with Folk Art Metallic Plum acrylic paint and let it dry with crumpled foil on top (weighted down with an old book). Then I cut out the tag shape with a Cuttlebug die, and stamped and embossed with one of Suzanne Cannon's calligraphy stamps from Quietfire Design, outlined the tag with gold metallic ink, then layered it on different cardstocks. The swirly layer was stamped with Quietfire Design Flourishes, using Color Box chalk inks, and finally, I and added some punched flowers with Swarovski crystals in the centre. So, here's my card, and thanks for visiting today!

Created by Hand Challenge

This week's Created by Hand challenge is...wings! I used several different stamps. The sentiment stamp, with Suzanne Cannon's beautiful hand calligraphy, is from Quietfire Design, stamped with Ancient Page Coal Black ink. The paisley is from Impression Obsession. The lace flowers are from Penny Black. The fairy is from All Night Media. I stamped and embossed the paisley and the fairy with Top Boss tinted embossing ink and Top Boss gold embossing powder, then painted them
with Twinkling H2O's, and used fantasy film for the fairy's wings. The fairy's done on an acetate overlay,
the paisleys are pop-dotted for added dimension.

Ismaki Challenge June 2nd.

This week's Ismaki challenge sketch has been very kind to us, THANK YOU for that Manue! I used the sketch along with my new stamp set from Stempleblad in Norway and a favourite image from Quietfire Design. I love these acrylic stamps! I stamped and embossed in gold on white cardstock and on a transparency, then painted with Ruby Red Twinkling H2O, and added some glitter on some of the hearts. I scanned the stamp set for you to see, below my card. They come with six different sentiments, and everything fits together so nicely! The Stempelblad website is in Norwegian, but if you like the stamps, you could e-mail the designer, Åshild (she speaks English) at this address: stempel@stempelblad.no

Edited September 2009: this card was published in the fall issue of Just Cards, on page 110! Thanks for visiting my blog.
